Philadelphia celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day today with the annual Liberty Bell ringing ceremony.
Governor Tom Corbett was joined by local officials and representatives at the Liberty Bell Center to reflect and remember upon the life of Doctor King and his message of freedom.
Today's event is held each year by the Philadelphia Martin Luther King Jr. Association for Nonviolence to preserve the memory and vision of Dr. King.
A South African dignitary was on hand as well to lead the ceremony with the symbolic tapping of the Liberty Bell.
Today's event traditionally marks the beginning of celebrations commemorating Martin Luther King Day in Philadelphia.
