GOLDEN EGG -- UNSPINNING TOM WOLF: DEBATE EDITION
The following is part of a series of real-time responses to the empty rhetoric made by Secretary Tom Wolf during tonight’s Pennsylvania Chamber Gubernatorial debate with Governor Tom Corbett.
Golden EGG
CLAIM:
In proposing a severance tax, Tom Wolf says natural gas is the goose that "lays the golden egg" for Pennsylvania.
RESPONSE:
Secretary Tom Wolf calls natural gas the "goose that lays the golden egg" but forget the tragic ending for the goose in that fable.
In short, farmer finds goose and takes it home, finding it lays golden eggs every morning. Farmer sells golden eggs and gets rich. Farmer grows richer and gets greedy, thinking he could get all the gold at once by killing the goose and opening it. He does and finds it empty. Poor goose.
And poor Pennsylvania benefiting today from cheaper gas prices and more jobs who will find themselves with little left if Tom Wolf gets hic chance to enact a new-job-killing energy tax on Pennsylvania's private sector.
