PENSION REFORM -- UNSPINNING TOM WOLF: DEBATE EDITION
The following is part of a series of real-time responses to the empty rhetoric made by Secretary Tom Wolf during tonight’s Pennsylvania Chamber Gubernatorial debate with Governor Tom Corbett.
PENNSYLVANIA’S PENSION CRISIS
CLAIM:
Governor Tom Corbett wants to kick the can down the road on our state’s pension crisis
RESPONSE:
Secretary Tom Wolf has repeatedly denied the existence of a pension crisis in Pennsylvaniato placate the public sector unions who are opposed to pension reform and have given Wolf millions of dollars in donations.
Despite Wolf denying a pension crisis exists, Tom Wolf attacks Governor Tom Corbett’s plan for wanting to enroll all new state employees into a 401(k) plan – just like what was done at Wolf Organization.
Wolf criticizes this as “kicking the can” on pension reform, despite Wolf’s solution to sell pension bonds, which is exactly what it means to be “kicking the can.”
Corbett’s leadership’s and willingness to address our pension crisis has earned him praise from multiple newspapers, including:
- The Philadelphia Daily News
- The Delco Daily Times
- The Times Herald
- The York Daily Record
- Philadelphia Magazine
