Gov. Tom Corbett has appointed the former chairman of the Harrisburg Authority to serve as chairman of the Governor's Advisory Commission on African American Affairs.

Fred Clark, a Harrisburg native who lives in Susquehanna Township, is a former athletic director for the Harrisburg School District and past director of the Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District.

He's CEO of Harrisburg-based Clark Resources, a consulting and public relations firm.

The Governor's Advisory Commission on African American Affairs works with the Governor's Office to represent the concerns of the African American community in legislative issues.

It also serves as the Corbett's liaison to African-American organizations across the state.
