IT DOESN'T ADD UP: TOM WOLF’S INCOME TAX HIKE WILL REQUIRE TAX INCREASES ON MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES & SMALL BUSINESSES

HARRISBURG, PA – The Corbett-Cawley campaign today drew attention to Secretary Tom Wolf’s class warfare and income tax plan that will require middle class families and small business owners to see an increase in their taxes.

“You’ve got to hand it to millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf for knowing absolutely nothing about his Obama-like income tax hike proposal except that it was created so he could do his best Barack Obama impression by engaging in class warfare,” stated Communications Director Chris Pack. “Secretary Tom Wolf’s income tax hike proposal will require a considerable amount of middle class families to pay higher taxes. Even worse, small business owners will pay the price too, and that would devastate Pennsylvania’s economy and kill jobs.”

Wolf has repeatedly told the media that he cannot provide him with the details of his plan because he doesn’t have access to the most recent data on taxable data. However, the most up-to-date personal income tax statistics for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are publicly available online. Additionally, the Corbett-Cawley campaign sent a copy of the report to Wolf last week so he could provide the details of his proposal.

“If Secretary Tom Wolf is serious about leading a state with 12.7 million people, he ought to use the tax data released to formulate his income tax plan. Secretary Wolf can demonstrate actual leadership for his income tax proposal by using the data that is available to him to show just what he would do if he were to lead the sixth-largest state in the country. The people of Pennsylvania deserve to know just how high Wolf wants to raise their taxes,” added Pack.

According to the Associated Press, “Wolf declined to provide additional details about his proposed overhaul of the roughly $12 billion-a-year income tax. Wolf, a state revenue secretary under former Gov. Ed Rendell, said he cannot determine where he would set the exemption or tax rate before the election because he lacks the Department of Revenue's up-to-date information about state taxpayers.
