CORBETT-CAWLEY CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON MILLIONAIRE SECRETARY TOM WOLF’S ALLIES LATEST ATTACK AD

HARRISBURG, PA – The Corbett-Cawley campaign today released the following statement on the latest misleading attack ad being run against Governor Tom Corbett on behalf of millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf and the public sector union bosses who have given Wolf's campaign more than $1.13 million to ignore our Commonwealth's pension crisis.

“Millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf and his cronies are at it again with lies and false information to distract from the fact Wolf has been bought and paid for by the public sector union bosses who have given his campaign more than $1.13 million to ignore the need for pension reform in Pennsylvania," stated Corbett-Cawley Communications Director Chris Pack. "Under Governor Corbett, Pennsylvania’s investment in our public schools has been increased every year to now historic levels. While millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf turns a blind eye, Governor Corbett is the only one with the courage to take on pension reform, deliver property tax relief and take on the public sector union bosses who are standing in the way.”

  • Governor Corbett did not cut education funding and in fact, restored the cuts his predecessor made to public schools and hid with one-time federal stimulus money, and has increased education funding by nearly $1.5 billion over the last four years.
  • The biggest driver of property tax increases is the state’s pension crisis, which Tom Wolf and his public sector union benefactors deny the existence of. Over 99% of school districts seeking waivers to raise property taxes cited pension costs as the reason for their request.
  • Natural gas companies have paid over $2 billion in state taxes since 2008, in addition to the $630 million generated by the local impact fee, which is benefiting local communities across the Commonwealth.

Public Sector Unions Finance New Attack Ad Against Governor Corbett: "The independent PAC, registered in Pennsylvania, enjoys backing from the Democratic Governors Association, AFSCME, the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association."
