CORBETT-CAWLEY CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON SECRETARY TOM WOLF PUTTING POLITICS OVER NEEDS OF PENNSYLVANIANS

HARRISBURG, PA – The Corbett-Cawley Campaign released the following statement in response to Secretary Tom Wolf’s campaign lobbying the General Assembly to oppose important reforms despite Wolf repeatedly insisting that he is not a politician. Reports have been swirling around the State Capitol that Secretary Tom Wolf and his top campaign advisor, Secretary Katie McGinty, have been working overtime to lobby their fellow Democrats not to work in a bipartisan fashion with the governor.

“It appears that millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf’s hypocrisy has no end,” stated Corbett-Cawley Communications Director Chris Pack. “Secretary Tom Wolf has repeatedly claimed that he’s not a politician, but he’s engaging in the most cynical of political actions – lobbying the General Assembly to blindly oppose Governor Corbett solely for political purposes.

“Secretary Tom Wolf denies that Pennsylvania has a pension crisis despite the fact that we are facing a credit downgrade and that within four years, the Commonwealth’s pension debt will be twice the size of the entire state budget. He is also ignoring the adverse impact that the pension crisis will have on property taxes across Pennsylvania.

“Secretary Tom Wolf is also bowing down to the wishes of public sector unions and special interest groups by ignoring the positive financial impacts of liquor privatization. He is turning his back on a large majority of Pennsylvanians who want to see our archaic liquor laws modernized and brought into the 21st century.

“Pennsylvania families deserve better than a group of Harrisburg insiders like former Rendell administration cabinet members, millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf and millionaire Secretary Katie McGinty, lobbying state legislators to vote based on Wolf’s political agenda rather than the best interests of Pennsylvanians. This is the type of behavior we came to expect from the tax-and-spend backroom dealing days of Governor Ed Rendell, Secretary Tom Wolf and Secretary Katie McGinty. However, no matter how much Secretary Tom Wolf wishes to the contrary, those days of dysfunction and corruption came to an end when Governor Tom Corbett took office, and they won’t be coming back anytime soon.”
