GREATER PHILADELPHIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE STATEMENT ON LATEST POSITIVE PA JOBS REPORT
Total amount of private sector jobs at highest level ever
HARRISBURG, PA – Rob Wonderling, President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, today released the following statement in response to another positive jobs report for Pennsylvania under the Corbett-Cawley administration. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the state’s unemployment rate has fallen to 5.6 percent for the month of May – a five year low and far below the national average of 6.3 percent. Pennsylvania’s total amount of private sector jobs now stands at 5,078,000 -- the highest level ever.
“Pennsylvania’s latest unemployment report is great news and holds encouraging signs about our future thanks to Governor Tom Corbett. Whether it was making critical investments to upgrade the Philadelphia shipyards, finding new buyers to save thousands of jobs at the southeast refineries or securing a bipartisan, comprehensive investment in our roads, bridges and mass transit, Governor Corbett has led every step of the way and made job creation and economic growth a top priority. Our region and our Commonwealth are better off today because of Governor Corbett’s leadership and hard work.”
