PENNSYLVANIA NATIONAL FEDERATION OF INDEPENDENT BUSINESS STATEMENT ON LATEST POSITIVE PA JOBS REPORT
Total amount of private sector jobs at highest level ever
HARRISBURG, PA – Pennsylvania National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Executive State Director Kevin Shivers today released the following statement in response to another positive jobs report for Pennsylvania under the Corbett-Cawley administration. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the state’s unemployment rate has fallen to 5.6 percent for the month of May – a five year low and far below the national average of 6.3 percent. Pennsylvania’s total amount of private sector jobs now stands at 5,078,000 -- the highest level ever.
"Today's jobs report is yet another positive sign that Pennsylvania's economy is responding to Tom Corbett's policies that have kept taxes on businesses and working families low and predictable. NFIB is Pennsylvania's leading small business advocacy group representing nearly 15,000 small- and independent-businesses.
"Despite a tidal wave of regulations and higher taxes flowing out of Washington, DC, Governor Corbett is getting things done in Pennsylvania. He is helping to create a business climate in Pennsylvania where firms can grow and create jobs. Today's jobs numbers are proof those policies are working."
