PENNSYLVANIA MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION STATEMENT ON LATEST POSITIVE PA JOBS REPORT
Total amount of private sector jobs at highest level ever
HARRISBURG, PA – David N. Taylor, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association, today released the following statement in response to another positive jobs report for Pennsylvania under the Corbett-Cawley administration. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the state’s unemployment rate has fallen to 5.6 percent for the month of May – a five year low and far below the national average of 6.3 percent. Pennsylvania’s total amount of private sector jobs now stands at 5,078,000 -- the highest level ever.
“With another strong overall jobs report, we believe Pennsylvania is headed in the right direction under Governor Tom Corbett’s leadership in Harrisburg. Taking the long view, Governor Corbett understands the importance of affordable energy to the manufacturing sector and that higher taxes and more regulations will only stifle growth. I am hopeful the positive direction that is underway in Pennsylvania will only accelerate under Governor Tom Corbett’s continued leadership.”
