CORBETT-CAWLEY CAMPAIGN CALLS ON SECRETARY WOLF TO RELEASE HIS BUDGET

HARRISBURG, PA – The Corbett-Cawley campaign today called on millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf to release the details of his budget proposal associated with the promises he made as part of his partially plagiarized campaign platform. In making the request, the Corbett-Cawley campaign notes that while Wolf’s platform is sorely lacking specific details, governing requires actual decision-making.

“As the Chief Executive, you have to make tough decisions and you need to be honest with the people,” stated Corbett-Cawley campaign manager Mike Barley. “How much would Secretary Tom Wolf’s promises cost taxpayers, and why hasn’t he included these numbers as part of his campaign platform? Pennsylvanians deserve more than pie in the sky promises; they deserve to know what the Wolf budget would look like. Secretary Wolf needs to stop hiding behind the slick television ads touting his razor-thin campaign platform filled with poll-tested buzz words that bought him the Democratic nomination.”

Secretary Tom Wolf’s “A Fresh Start” plan contains a laundry list of broad spending proposals, virtually none of which include an estimated price tag. Though Secretary Tom Wolf’s plan implies that a 5% severance tax would be the silver bullet revenue stream to pay for all of his programs, the liberal Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, estimates such a tax would generate only $400 million in new revenue. This new revenue would cover less than half of Secretary Wolf’s promised education funding increase. The Corbett-Cawley campaign believes that if Wolf’s plan is to be taken seriously, two questions must be answered: “How much would he cost us?” and “Where are the specifics regarding the cuts and tax increases needed to pay for it?”

Secretary Tom Wolf has stated in the past that he will release any information that is asked of him. However, despite repeated requests, Wolf continues to avoid addressing a variety of issues, including details of his tax returns where he pays a single digit tax rate; corporate tax returns to address his Delaware loophole hypocrisy; information concerning lack of gender equality within his company; and if he supports President Obama’s most recent attack in his war on Pennsylvania coal.
