PINOCCHIO IN WOLF’S CLOTHING? - VIDEO CATCHES TOM WOLF LYING TO SUPPORTERS ABOUT STATE’S UNEMPLOYMENT

Latest Lie by Wolf Comes on the Heels of Yet another Positive PA Unemployment Report Under Governor Corbett’s Leadership

HARRISBURG, PA – The Corbett-Cawley campaign today fired back against the latest off-the-cuff lie courtesy of millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf who was caught on video yesterday saying that it was a fact that Pennsylvania lost 100,000 jobs last year. In reality, the state gained 44,700 jobs from April 2013 to April 2014, and has added over 150,000 new private sector jobs since Governor Corbett took office.

“Tom Wolf should apologize for lying to the people of Pennsylvania,” stated Corbett-Cawley campaign manager Mike Barley. "The truth is that Tom Wolf can’t stand that Governor Tom Corbett’s agenda of ‘More Jobs, Less Taxes’ is spurring job creation and has helped push unemployment well below the national average. Tom Wolf has found it more convenient to flat-out lie to his supporters about our state’s improving economy as he desperately tries to sell his tax-and-spend agenda.”

Yesterday at a rally at Mount Wolf, Secretary Wolf stated, “Last year, we lost over 100,000 jobs in Pennsylvania. Those are the facts.” However, according to the latest report from The US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 44,700 jobs were created in Pennsylvania from April 2013 to April 2014.

Wolf’s latest lie comes on the heels of more positive news for Pennsylvania’s economy. On Friday, the campaign announced that the state’s unemployment rate has fallen to 5.7 percent for the month of April – the lowest level since September 2008 and far below the national average of 6.3 percent.

In responding to the positive news, Governor Corbett stated, “The people of Pennsylvania elected me to Harrisburg on my promise of less taxes and more jobs, and we continue to see that promise ringing true through another positive jobs report. The Democrats running for governor are all calling for more spending and more tax increases, but we already know how that story ends – it ends with an 8.1 unemployment rate and out-of-control spending. Pennsylvania cannot afford to go back to those days, and as your Governor, we never will.”
