CORBETT CAMPAIGN INVITES ALLENTOWN MAYOR ED PAWLOWSKI TO SIGN TAX RETURN PETITION
HARRISBURG, PA – The Corbett Campaign today personally invited Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski to sign the campaign’s online petition calling on the Democratic candidates for Governor to publicly release 10 years of personal tax returns. The petition also calls for millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf to release his corporate tax returns due to the vested interest the Pennsylvania taxpayers have in the company that Wolf used as collateral to get a $4.5 million loan to fund his primary campaign. The Corbett Campaign launched the petition on Thursday and said they will be sending personal invitations to the Democratic officials across Pennsylvania who have previously voiced their support for the long-term release of tax returns to sign the Corbett campaign’s petition.
Secretary Tom Wolf has indicated that he has no intentions of releasing further tax returns beyond 2010, 2011 and 2012 where he paid an average of 8.73 percent in taxes. In February, Wolf expressed his willingness to release his personal and corporate tax returns, stating at the WHYY Newsworks and the Philadelphia Business Journal 2014 Gubernatorial Forum, “I’ll share whatever people like you want me to share, my personal tax returns, and the company information.” He also added, “I’ll be happy to share whatever anybody wants to see, that’s been my practice throughout my business career.”
Corbett is still the only candidate to publicly release 10 years of tax returns.

Dear Mayor Pawlowski:
I am writing to you today to invite you to sign the Corbett campaign’s online petition calling for the Democratic candidates for governor to publicly release 10 years of tax returns. As you may already know, Governor Tom Corbett is the only candidate for governor who has made 10 years of tax returns publicly available. The petition also calls for millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf to release his corporate tax returns due to the vested interest Pennsylvania taxpayers and SERS retirees have in the company that Wolf used as collateral to get a $4.5 million loan to fund his primary campaign.
Your status as a Democratic Mayor and your past support for the long-term release of tax returns makes you an ideal candidate to support our bipartisan cause. Less than two years ago, you said it best in your open letter in the Philadelphia Daily News when you joined with six other Pennsylvania Mayors to call on Mitt Romney to release his taxes by stating, “Transparency leads to trust. And public release of your tax returns is the only way the American people can know if they can trust your judgment, perspective and motivations. But the American people have waited long enough and heard enough excuses about why you refuse to disclose your tax returns. It’s time to come clean”. I have taken the liberty of providing a copy of your statements for your review.
By the very nature of campaigns, it is difficult to find bipartisan issues, like the long-term disclosure of tax returns, where Democrats and Republicans agree. I am encouraged by your past impassioned support on this issue and eagerly await your signature on our online petition. You can sign the petition by going to www.tomcorbettforgovernor.com/tenyearsoftaxreturns in your Internet web browser.
Thank you for your past and future support of this bipartisan issue. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Michael Barley
