500 More Jobs Coming to Pennsylvania Latest Sign of an Improving Economy Under Corbett-Cawley Administration Leadership
The Corbett-Cawley campaign announced that an additional 500 jobs will be coming to Pennsylvania by the end of 2016, signaling further proof that less taxes is equaling more jobs under the Corbett-Cawley Administration. This latest round of jobs is the result of an 870,000-square-foot PetSmart distribution facility that was made possible through the Administration’s policies that encourage private sector development. Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley was in attendance earlier today at the facility in Berks County to deliver remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
To create the 870,000-square-foot facility that will lead to 500 jobs by the end of 2016, PetSmart received assistance from the Department of Community and Economic Development, including job training assistance and Job Creation Tax Credits.
The jobs outlook in Pennsylvania continues to improve under the Corbett-Cawley Administration. Just yesterday, the Associated Press reported that Pennsylvania saw the biggest decrease in unemployment claims for mid-March in the entire country. Earlier this week, the campaign also announced that an additional 2,431 manufacturing jobs are projected to come to the Pittsburgh, Scranton-Wilkes-Barre and Capital regions.
That good news followed another positive unemployment report that showed even further improvement in the state’s jobless rate, which is now at 6.2% – a 2 point drop since Corbett took office and the state’s lowest mark since November 2008.
News of the improving unemployment earned Governor Corbett accolades from around Pennsylvania, including:
- Congressman Glen “G.T.” Thompson;
- Senator Pat Toomey;
- Pennsylvania NFIB;
- Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association;
- Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry; and
- State Representative and Philadelphia GOP Chairman John Taylor.
