First Lady Susan Corbett bestowed the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Academics to Carlisle Area School District’s Mooreland Elementary School Monday.

Mooreland attained a 93.9 percent rating, the highest in the district, on the state’s 2012-13 School Performance Profile.

The performance profile measures statewide assessment tests, student achievement and graduation, attendance and promotion rates.

“Mooreland Elementary School demonstrates the invaluable partnership between students, parents, teachers, administrators and support staff,” Corbett said in a statement. “I commend the school and community for their commitment to ensuring that our children receive a quality education.”

Gov. Tom Corbett, the first lady and officials from the governor’s administration are visiting high-performing schools across the state to present them with the awards.

Statewide, 428 schools earned a score of 90 or above, according to Corbett’s office.
