Pennsylvania has become the most improved state on a scorecard for tax administration by getting an “A-” score, up from a “D” grade, from the Washington, D.C.-based Council On State Taxation, according to a news release.

Gov. Tom Corbett’s promise to make the state’s process for tax appeals more objective and friendly to taxpayers led to the improvement, the release stated.

“We have made significant changes over the last few years that make the appeals process more fair, more transparent and more accountable to the taxpayers of Pennsylvania,” Corbett stated in the release.

Maine and Ohio received “A” grades from the council.
