A manufacturer of parts for the power-line transmission industry is renovating its facility in Allentown, a move that will bring at least 42 new jobs to the city, Gov. Tom Corbett’s office announced today.

Summit Utility Structures LLC, which operates out of a facility on South 12th Street, is investing more than $1.94 million into expanding the facility to 28,000 square feet, according to a news release.

The company makes anchor bolts, steel davit arms and substation infrastructure for power lines. It said in the release that the expansion is possible thanks in part to a $930,000, low-interest loan it received from the state’s Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund.

The fund provides low-interest loans to manufacturing and industrial companies for the acquisition and installation of new or used equipment or for upgrading existing machinery.

The news release did not give a timetable for construction.

Corbett, in a statement, described the new jobs the expansion is creating as high skilled and well paying.
