Gov. Tom Corbett and Acting Secretary of Education Carolyn Dumaresq plan to present awards Tuesday to nine Mt. Lebanon schools because they earned a score of 90 or higher on the 2012-13 School Performance Profile.

School Performance Profiles, launched in October to replace Adequate Yearly Progress goals mandated under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, assign building-level, 100-point scores to schools based on students' standardized test scores, academic growth from year to year, graduation rates, attendance and the academic progress of historically under-performing students such as English language learners and those from economically depressed backgrounds.

Governor's Award for Excellence in Academics banners will be awarded in the afternoon to Mt. Lebanon High School, Foster Elementary School, Hoover Elementary School, Howe Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, Washington Elementary School, Markham Elementary School and Jefferson Elementary School, according to the governor's office.
