CONGRESSMAN MIKE KELLY STATEMENT ON LATEST POSITIVE PA JOBS REPORT
Total amount of private sector jobs at highest level ever
HARRISBURG, PA – U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) today released the following statement in response to another positive jobs report for Pennsylvania under the Corbett-Cawley administration. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the state’s unemployment rate has fallen to 5.6 percent for the month of May – a five year low and far below the national average of 6.3 percent. Pennsylvania’s total amount of private sector jobs now stands at 5,078,000 -- the highest level ever.
“It should come as no surprise that Governor Tom Corbett’s “Less Taxes, More Jobs” agenda has led to our state’s lowest unemployment rate in over five years. All you have to do is look at the economically devastating decisions President Obama has made in Washington to understand why Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate is well-below the national average.
“While Obama is calling for massive energy taxes in his War on Coal, Governor Corbett is fighting to protect the 62,000 jobs supported by the Pennsylvania coal industry. Governor Corbett protected Pennsylvanians and rejected the state-run health care exchanges that have miserably failed other states and cost hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.
“Under Governor Corbett’s leadership, less taxes truly does mean more jobs, and President Obama should take notes of how we are getting things done in Pennsylvania.”
