I recently took a leave from my job to join Tom on the campaign trail. For the past year, he has been telling me all about the wonderful people he's met, and the towns and cities he has visited. Now I get to experience the campaign first-hand!
The Labor Day Weekend parades and picnics were beyond our expectations. Tom took the More Jobs, Lower Taxes bus to Allentown and Scranton. I joined him for the Clinton County Regatta, the Cambria County Fair, and Pittsburgh’s Labor Day Parade. Tom got a great reception everywhere we visited—from enthusiastic volunteers who are working hard on his campaign, to people on the streets who asked to shake his hand and promised to vote for him.
It’s always good to get home to Pittsburgh, so the Labor Day parade was a highlight for us. And, boy, did Tom’s supporters turn out on that day! Tom was honored to walk with the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #1, and to receive their endorsement for governor. As Attorney General, he understands and appreciates the difficult job our police officers do to keep Pennsylvanians safe and secure.
Over one hundred volunteers showed up to walk with us in the parade. They cheered all the way and “papered the street” with Tom Corbett for Governor balloons and signs. And the More Jobs, Lower Taxes bus parked on Grant Street to greet people anxious to learn more about this important election. Both Tom and I sincerely appreciate the enthusiasm and commitment of our volunteers in Pittsburgh and across the commonwealth.
The people of Pennsylvania are tired of the reckless spending in Harrisburg and they want a change. And I agree with them. Tom has the integrity and the vision to make tough decisions that will put Pennsylvania back on the right track. We both grew up in Pennsylvania and raised our two children here. We want future generations to stay here and have the opportunities that we had. As we ride the bus and meet people in small towns and big cities, I know that, together, we can make that happen.
