Much is being made about the campaign strategies of Democrats and Republicans as the parties sprint to the finish line. The pundits and the forecasters continue to mention elections being national in nature as opposed to localized. Frankly I do not understand the distinction.

I vote for candidates I trust and believe in, not because of a special interest ad or campaign flier. My vote is earned, not bought, and the gubernatorial candidate who earned my vote this cycle is Tom Corbett.

Tom seems to have been to Northeastern Pennsylvania many more times than his opponent. I understand his opponent needs to do well in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to win, but he should not forget the hardworking folks in “coal country.” I believe Tom understands the fact that a governor is someone who watches out for the whole state.

The last eight years with Gov. Ed Rendell have been a great example of just how local a governor can be: see Philadelphia’s share of the state dollar.

Dan Onorato is not an evil man; he just has not convinced me that he is the right guy for the entire state. And I firmly believe that with the many difficult decisions ahead, we need a governor who will consider all the corners of the state, even if they aren’t necessary for his re-election bid.
