Philadelphia-3/30/10- The Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans met at Saint Joseph’s University for their State Convention this past weekend. There, the College Republicans unanimously voted to endorse Attorney General Tom Corbett for Governor both in the upcoming May primary and in the November general election.
“Tom Corbett has a proven record on delivering on his campaign promises. He promised to protect Pennsylvania’s children and delivered by creating a child predator unit. He promised to protect our seniors and started an elderly abuse unit. He promised to fight fraud and has gone after companies that target Pennsylvanians. He promised to tackle illegal weapons and has teamed up with both Democrat and Republican District Attorneys’ by going after straw gun purchases. It is this proven record of delivering for Pennsylvania that the College Republicans feel that he is the strongest candidate to bring much needed reform to the governor’s mansion,” said Ed Furman, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans. “We feel with all of the big problems facing our state, that Tom Corbett is the best person to tackle the looming pension crisis, as well as move past the grid lock that has prevented Governor Rendell from passing a single budget on time.”
Many College Students will leave Pennsylvania due to its poor job climate, a huge loss for the state as tens of thousands of highly educated workers will take the education they received in Pennsylvania and use these skills elsewhere. “Tom Corbett has a clear vision for moving Pennsylvania forward; the College Republicans feel that Tom Corbett will bring much needed leadership in dealing with the long neglected youth issues facing younger Pennsylvanians,” added Furman.
The Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans endorsed Tom Corbett following a speech and question and answer session covering many of Pennsylvania’s issues.
