HARRISBURG– Today, the Pennsylvania Medical Society Political Action Committee (PAMPAC) announced its endorsement of Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett as the best choice to become Pennsylvania’s next governor.
One of the largest bipartisan political action committees in the state, PAMPAC is made up of members of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and its Alliance who are interested in making a positive contribution to the medical profession through the political process.
“The member physicians of PAMPAC believe that as Governor, Tom Corbett will be the leader that the Pennsylvania medical community needs and can support,” said PAMPAC Chair, John P. Gallagher, MD, FACOG. “Pennsylvania is experiencing difficult economic times and requires a leader that has the courage to make tough decisions about healthcare reform while protecting the interests of its citizens and trusted professionals, such as physicians.”
As Governor, Tom Corbett will work with Pennsylvania’s healthcare community and the General Assembly to enact meaningful medical liability and tort reform, which is critical to supporting patient access to healthcare, helping to reduce overall healthcare costs and spurring job growth in all industry sectors.
“I am honored to receive the support of PAMPAC and their members who are essential to the public health of Pennsylvanians and our communities,” Corbett stated. “Pennsylvania’s overall healthcare system is an important economic engine within the commonwealth and we must adopt common sense policies regarding healthcare and health insurance coverage to ensure access, quality and affordability.”
