HARRISBURG– The Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA) voted at their recent Board of Directors meeting to endorse Attorney General and Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett as their choice for Governor in the November 2, 2010 General Election.

The PBA is a nonprofit, professional trade organization that represents 7,800 member-companies from across the Commonwealth. PBA members and their 255,000 employees include builders, remodelers, material suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, lending institutions, utilities and others involved in the housing industry.

“After a personal interview on July 19, our Gubernatorial Elections Task Force was strongly impressed with General Corbett’s positions on critical issues facing our state, specifically his stance on job creation,” stated PBA President Joseph Mackey.

Mackey added, “The housing industry in Pennsylvania is in a critical situation. The unemployment rate of construction workers is over 35 percent and thousands of small contractors and numerous large ones have gone out of business. General Corbett has a plan to bring fiscal responsibility back to Harrisburg by reducing spending and lowering taxes.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement and confidence of the members of the Pennsylvania Builders Association,” Corbett stated. “The housing industry is of vital importance to Pennsylvania’s economy. As Governor, one of my top priorities is to reduce tax burdens on our businesses and cut regulatory barriers that are crushing companies and their ability to create jobs. By doing that, we will make Pennsylvania competitive once again,” said Corbett.
