Tom Officially Announces for Governor
By the time I arrived at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh for the Attorney General’s official announcement for governor, a group of Tom Corbett supporters had already snatched front row seats to witness the event.
As Jim Roddey, the Allegheny County Republican chairman, introduced the candidate, the crowd waved their signs and hand-made posters in the air and chanted “Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.”
During his speech, General Corbett sparked a passionate applause when he talked about creating a two-year budget cycle in order to fix Pennsylvania’s state funding. He also highlighted improving business in Harrisburg, as well as taking advantage of the state’s energy resources.
But, by far, General Corbett’s most powerful line of the night was “leadership that says no to corruption.”
Before the event began, I talked with supporters of General Corbett who traveled from all over the state to witness his official announcement for governor. “I think this election is all about accountability. It’s about honesty. It’s about leadership. And I think Tom Corbett epitomizes those virtues,” said one Corbett supporter.
Another fan voiced that Corbett “had a great record as our Attorney General and he’s done a phenomenal job trying to eliminate the corruption in Harrisburg. We could use a man of integrity.”
This campaign has already excited Pennsylvanians who are ready to bring honesty and trustworthiness to Harrisburg. Be sure to sign up to receive Corbett for Governor emails and stay informed about how you can help the campaign.
